Free agent forward Will Acton has decided to continue his career with the Schwenninger Wild Wings of the German League, the club announced on Monday.

Will Acton is the son of former NHL player and coach Keith Acton.

The 28-year-old was never able to make it to the NHL on a full-time basis, as he only managed to skate in 33 games over two seasons with the Edmonton Oilers.

Last November, Edmonton traded Acton to the Vancouver Canucks , but he was never able to crack Vancouver’s lineup.

Acton became an unrestricted free agent over the summer but was unable to come to terms with an NHL team.

The Stouffville, Ontario native played four years of college hockey at Lake Superior before joining the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.

In 2013, he signed with the Oilers and he split the following season between the AHL and NHL.

He will join former NHLers Matt Pelech, Sascha Goc, Yan Stastny, Joey MacDonald and Dmitri Patzold with Schwenninger.
