The Ottawa Senators have signed pending unrestricted free agent defenseman Chris Wideman to a new one-year two-way deal. The contract will pay Wideman $600,000 at the NHL level and $400,000 in the AHL.

The 25-year-old appeared in 75 games for the Binghamton Senators last season scoring 19 goals and 42 assists to go along with 116 penalty minutes. He led all AHL defensemen in assists, points and shots on goal (213).

Wideman won the Eddie Shore Award as the AHL’s top defenseman in 2014-15. He was also named to the AHL’s First All-Star Team.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound blue liner was originally a fourth-round selection (100th overall) by the Ottawa Senators in 2009.
