Toronto Maple Leafs depth defenseman Petter Granberg has undergone surgery to repair a torn Achilles suffered while training in Sweden, the club announced Friday via Twitter.

According to the Leafs, Granberg is expected to be out a minimum of four months.

A fourth-round pick of the Leafs from 2010, the 22-year-old Granberg has played a total of eight games for Toronto’s NHL team, including seven games last season.

Granberg spent the majority of this past season with the Toronto Marlies in the American Hockey League.
