The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed prospect Austin Madaisky to a one-year, two-way contract according to The Columbus Dispatch.

The defenseman confirmed the signing via Twitter.

“Happy to say that I’ll be back with the Blue Jackets organization for another year, grateful for the opportunity,” Madaisky Tweeted.

The 23-year-old was set to become a restricted free agent next month as his three-year, $2.15 million entry-level contract expires on July 1.

Madaisky appeared in 53 American Hockey League games with the Springfield Falcons during the 2014-15 season scoring 12 goals and 23 assists. He was a starter for the Eastern Conference at the AHL All-Star Game.

His season ended abruptly when he broke his ankle in February.

The Blue Jackets selected Madaisky in the fifth round (124th overall) at the 2010 NHL Draft.
