Chicago’s Rozsival (fractured ankle) out for playoffs

Chicago Blackhawks v Philadelphia Flyers

The Blackhawks confirmed the expected on Friday, announcing that d-man Michal Rozsival would be lost for the remainder of the playoffs with a fractured ankle.

The injury, suffered during Thursday’s series-clinching win over Minnesota, looked nasty when it happened and head coach Joel Quenneville offered little optimism following the game, saying “tough loss,” and “doesn’t look good.”

Rozsival, 36, has been with Chicago for the last three years and was a fairly integral part in the Stanley Cup win of ’13, appearing in all 23 games while averaging 19:16 TOI per night. While his role has diminished somewhat recently, he was still averaging over 17 minutes in these playoffs; with Rozsival now unavailable for selection, it looks as though Chicago will replace him with one of either David Rundblad or Kyle Cumiskey.
