Chris Phillips will not play another game this season.

The Sens’ defenseman last played on Feb. 5 and has missed the last 35 games.

“Chris Phillips is going to have surgery (on Tuesday) for a back issue and I expect him back obviously in training camp,” head coach Dave Cameron announced on Monday. “I think most cases surgery is the last option.”

The 37-year-old had three assists in 36 games this season while averaging 20:54 in time on ice.

Phillips has one year remaining on his two-year $5 million contract.
