Odd are the New York Rangers will have to start the playoffs without the services of Kevin Klein. The 30-year-old defenseman hasn’t played since March 11 due to a broken arm and while he’s been skating, he didn’t participate in Tuesday’s practice.

Rangers coach Alain Vigneault indicated that Klein would need to take part in Wednesday’s practice for him to have a chance of returning on Thursday for Game 1 against Pittsburgh. At this point though, Vigneault doesn’t think Klein will end up joining the Rangers for that contest.

“He’s day to day,” Vigneaualt added, per the Bergen Record. “I think everyone knows a broken bone takes time to heal. We anticipated four to six (weeks). We’re in that range. He’s been skating on his own but he’s not quite ready to yet to join the team.”

Klein had nine goals, 26 points, and a plus-24 rating in 65 contests during the regular season.
