The Blues lost defenseman Robert Bortuzzo and the Blackhawks are without Kimmo Timonen for the rest of the night in Chicago.
Bortuzzo played nearly three minutes of the first period before leaving with an upper body injury.
Timonen was hit by Blues tough guy Ryan Reaves near the midway mark of the first period and did not return.
Timonen played just three shifts.
The 40-year-old was playing 15th game of the season after missing the first five months recovering from blood clots.
Timonen’s teammate Brent Seabrook got a measure of revenge on Reaves in the second period.
Seabrook’s hit caused Reaves to lose a couple teeth.
Ryan Reaves on Brent Seabrook hit: "It was a physical game. Not mad it wasn't a call. It's how the game was." #stlblues

Reaves said the tooth he pulled out was the same tooth that was knocked out the last time the #stlblues played #blackhawks
