It appears the L.A. Kings could be without defenseman Andrej Sekera for the remainder of the regular season as they look to lock down a post-season berth.
According to a report from Lisa Dillman of the L.A. Times, Sekera is not expected to return to the Kings lineup during the regular season due to injury.
The 28-year-old blue liner was hurt during a loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday. It was reported this week there was speculation the injury he sustained wasn’t minor, either.
That could be a big loss, considering the Kings paid a heavy price for Sekera, a pending unrestricted free agent who L.A. acquired just prior to the trade deadline for a first-round draft pick and prospect Roland McKeown.
That first-round pick could be in the 2015 draft, provided the Kings make the playoffs.
Since joining the Kings, Sekera had four points in 16 games.
