Report: League to review Toffoli boarding major on Burrows

L.A. Kings forward Tyler Toffoli could be looking at supplemental discipline after he was ejected from Saturday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks for a dangerous hit from behind on Alex Burrows.

Toffoli was assessed a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct. The Canucks scored on the ensuing five-on-three and went on to a crucial victory over the Kings to maintain their second-place standing in the Pacific Division.

“Yeah, it sucks,” said Toffoli, as per the L.A. Times. “I wish it didn’t happen. I wish we won the game. It feels like it’s on my shoulders right now and it’s not a good feeling.”

“I haven’t seen the replay,” he continued. “I don’t really know what happened. It all happened pretty quickly. I haven’t seen anything yet. I don’t really remember what happened.”

According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the league will look into the incident. The NHL Department of Player Safety had yet to announce if there would be a hearing.

From Sportsnet:

“The good news for the Kings player is Burrows returned to the game, which usually calms down any discussion about a suspension,” Friedman said. “The NHL will review this hit, but because it’s a busy day they won’t decide if there’s any kind of hearing until after tonight’s games are over.”
