L.A. Kings forward Tyler Toffoli was given a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct after hitting Vancouver Canucks forward Alex Burrows dangerously from behind into the boards at the L.A. bench.
The incident occurred in the third period.
Burrows had to be helped off the ice and was shaky as he got to his feet.
Seconds earlier, Toffoli had a short-handed breakaway but was denied on a pad save from Eddie Lack.
The Canucks took advantage, scoring on the ensuing five-on-three advantage to take a 2-1 lead.
Updated: Burrows returned to the game late in the third period.
