The Buffalo Sabres lost 3-1 to the New Jersey Devils on Friday, which reportedly brings them closer to an NHL record. It’s not a good record.

To this point in the season, the Sabres have been held to one goal or fewer in a game on 34 different occasions, according to an exhaustive search of their schedule and results.

They remain last in the NHL’s overall standings. Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel, expected to be the top picks in this year’s draft, could certainly help remedy Buffalo’s scoring troubles.
