The St. Louis Blues locked up an asset for the future Tuesday evening.

The club announced they’ve come to terms on a two-year entry-level contract with defenseman Colton Parayko.

The 21-year-old has spent the past three seasons at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks where he collected six goals and 17 in assists in 36 games this season.

Last season Parayko was named a WCHA First Team All-Star while earning the League’s Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Parayko was the Blues the third round selection (86th overall) at the 2012 NHL Draft.

Parayko has been assigned to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.
