With the win, the Pens have pulled to within one point of the Metropolitan Division-leading New York Islanders. The loss was the Red Wings’ first since Jan. 29.

Stephen Weiss had the lone goal for the Red Wings.

Petr Mrazek made 13 saves in the loss. Jimmy Howard relieved Mrazek in the third and made four saves in his first appearance since Jan. 10.
