Patrick Kane - you know him as ‘Showtime’ - scored the 200th goal of his National Hockey League career, and the Chicago Blackhawks thumped the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday.
The final score was 6-1 for the Blackhawks. They also dominated in shots on goal, registering 51 of those on Arizona’s goalie Mike Smith, who was in net for all six goals.
As you probably expected, Chicago dominated in the possession game. Every aspect went to the Blackhawks. It was bad. Smith saw his record fall to 7-20-3, while his save percentage fell to .887 and goals-against average to 3.51.
“It was almost like we were on break before break started,” said Smith, as per Sarah McLellan of azcentral sports.
“You pull an NHL sweater on, it’s a privilege. To come out like that tonight and get embarrassed was pretty heart-wrenching,” Smith added.
The Coyotes now enter the All-Star break four points ahead of the Edmonton Oilers, who hold the title of last place in the Western Conference. Arizona has only two wins in its past 10 games, and recent struggles have led to talk about a rebuild in the wake of Devan Dubnyk’s trade to Minnesota.
