Jakob Silfverberg has been money for the Anaheim Ducks in the shootout this season.
According to NHL.com, he has scored seven goals in 11 opportunities in deciding skills competition, and his successful attempt Saturday counted as the winner, as the Ducks defeated their rivals, the L.A. Kings by a final score of 3-2. Nothing complicated. A quick release on a shot low to the blocker side on Jonathan Quick.
For the third time this season, these two teams have needed either overtime or a shootout to decide an outcome.
The loss ends the night on a disappointing note for the Kings, who earlier retired Rob Blake’s No. 4 jersey to the rafters at Staples Center.
Kings have 0 goals on their last 22 shootout attempts.
