Bruins’ Marchand calls slew-foot a ‘selfish act’

Brad Marchand, a repeat offender in the National Hockey League, has been forced to answer for yet another suspension.

The Boston Bruins agitating forward was given a two-game ban on Friday for a slew-foot on Derick Brassard of the New York Rangers. It’s Marchand’s third suspension of his career. It comes at a time when the Bruins are on a roll, having won five consecutive games prior to puck drop on Saturday’s NHL schedule.

“It’s definitely on the edge, for sure. It’s a dangerous play, no doubt, and it’s something they’re trying to get out of the game,” said Marchand, as per CSNNE.com.

“It could be worse. It could be three or four [games], so I’ve got to be happy that it’s not. Hopefully the guys do well without me, and I’ll get back against Colorado.

“Our team has been playing so well, and I don’t want a selfish act like that to impact how well the team can do. Hopefully they can without me, which I know they can.”

In 42 games this season, Marchand has 12 goals and 24 points. The Bruins host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.
