Video: Sabres retire Dominik Hasek’s No. 39

Prior to puck drop between the Red Wings and Sabres tonight Dominik Hasek’s No. 39 was raised to the rafters at the First Niagara Center.

The 49-year-old spent nine seasons as a member of the Sabres leading Buffalo to a Stanley Cup final appearance in 1999.

The Hall of Famer appeared in 491 regular season games with the Sabres posting a 234-170-70 record to go along with a 2.22 G.A.A. and a .926 save percentage.

While with the Sabres, Hasek won the Hart Trophy as the league’s MVP and the Lester B. Pearson Trophy as the league’s MVP as voted by the players in both 1997 and 1998. He also took home the Vezina Trophy as the league’s top goaltender six times while with the Sabres.
