Brett Connolly could only grab his head in frustration and probably some disbelief, too.
In all alone, the Tampa Bay Lightning winger had a wide open net as he made a move to the forehand, but Buffalo Sabres goalie Michal Neuvirth, who looked completely beat on the play, threw out his glove hand to deny what looked like a sure goal for Connolly.
Cue the premature goal horn.
The save came late in the second period with the two teams tied 1-1, and the Lightning outshooting the Sabres 30-13. Through two periods, Neuvirth had faced 35 shots. He stopped 34 of those.
