The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed goalie Sergei Bobrovsky to a four-year contract extension, the club announced today.

The extension, which runs through 2018-19, is worth a reported $29.7 million, for a cap hit of $7.425 million.

Among NHL goalies, only the Rangers’ Henrik Lundqvist, with a cap hit of $8.5 million, will have a higher annual average value next season. Nashville’s Pekka Rinne and Boston’s Tuukka Rask will each check in at $7 million, while Montreal’s Carey Price will be at $6.5 million.

“A common thread of every successful team in our league is outstanding goaltending and we believe we have one of the best at the position in the world in Sergei Bobrovsky,” said GM Jarmo Kekalainen in a release. “He is a tremendous person and a very talented player whose work ethic sets the tone for our team. We are very happy to have him signed for the next four years.”

Bobrovsky, 26, has registered an impressive .924 save percentage in 123 games with Columbus. He was traded to the Blue Jackets by Philadelphia in June of 2012. He won the Vezina Trophy in 2013.
