Alex Ovechkin opened the scoring tonight in Philadlphia, on a power play, with one of his trademark one-timers from the top of the face-off circle.

Washington’s captain one-timed a Mike Green feed top corner on Steve Mason at 3:08 of the first for his 21st of the season.

Ovechkin now has goals in five straight games.

As NHL.com’s Adam Kimelman points out, the last time Ovechkin scored in five straight was March 17-24, 2013.

It was also Ovechkin’s 28th career goal vs. the Flyers in his 34th regular season game against Philadelphia.
