MacDonald expected to be healthy scratch versus Caps

AndrewMacDonald2

All signs in Philadelphia point to Flyers defenseman Andrew MacDonald being a healthy scratch tonight versus the Capitals.

The six d-men expected to suit up for the Flyers are Nicklas Grossmann, Mark Streit, Nick Schultz, Braydon Coburn, Luke Schenn and Michael Del Zotto.

MacDonald has played 29 games this season and has two goals and seven assists. The 28-year-old was acquired from the Islanders in March, and shortly thereafter he signed a six-year, $30 million contract extension.

The Flyers were expecting big things from MacDonald in 2014-15, especially after Kimmo Timonen was lost indefinitely due to blood clots.

Obviously, those expectations haven’t been met, as this will be MacDonald’s second healthy scratching of the current campaign.
