Video: Yeo addresses practice tirade -- ‘I’m not going to accept that’

Yeo

That was Wild coach Mike Yeo, shortly after going a bit “nuts” at today’s practice.

Why the tirade?

“Well, we weren’t good enough,” he said. “And we’re not in a position where we can come in and be, let alone decent in practice, bad at practice. I’m not going to accept that.”

Yeo was then asked how much of today’s outburst was meant to remind his players that “this was not just a goalie thing.”

He replied in the affirmative.

“The one thing you can always control is your work ethic and your attitude, and everything else follows suit after that,” he said.

Still, you can’t help but wonder how the Wild are going to start stringing some wins together if they don’t get better goaltending, and soon.

As Yeo said yesterday after Darcy Kuemper allowed a stoppable shot to beat him in overtime, “I’ve never believed it’s a one-man show out there, but it does start with goaltending and it ends with goaltending. That’s just the reality of the position, that’s what you sign up for when you play.”
