Brodeur looks to build off of Monday’s shutout

There was talk before St. Louis’ game on Monday that it might be Martin Brodeur’s final start as Brian Elliott was on the verge of returning from a knee injury. However, after Brodeur posted a 16-save shutout against Patrick Roy’s Colorado Avalanche, it was quickly determined that he would stay on the roster and play again.

Brodeur will get his next opportunity tonight against Anaheim, but his situation remains fragile given that the Blues have three healthy goaltenders on their roster, including Jake Allen.

The 42-year-old netminder will play against 25-year-old Frederik Andersen.

Price goes for win 200 in game 400

If Brodeur wins tonight it will be victory 692. He’s been so successful that it’s almost hard to wrap your head around just how incredible his win total is, but one way of doing so is by looking at his peers.

Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price turned 27 in August and has been one of the league’s top goaltenders for a little while now. He’s been dominate again this season with a 20-9-1 record, 2.19 GAA, and .928 save percentage in 30 games. If he reaches the 200-win mark tonight, it will be something worth celebrating and he’ll become one of just 10 active goaltenders to reach that milestones. And as far Brodeur, everyone is in his shadow, not just Price. He has nearly double the amount of career wins as the next highest active goalie (Roberto Luongo, 387).

Brodeur’s former squad, the New Jersey Devils, will be Montreal’s opponents tonight and will counter with Keith Kinkaid.
