The St. Louis Blues placed forward Magnus Paajarvi on waivers Monday, possibly in order to keep three goalies -- specifically, Martin Brodeur -- on the active roster.
More, from NHL.com’s Lou Korac:Paajarvi on waivers likely means #stlblues will keep three goalies for the time being. Spot opens room to keep Brodeur when Elliott returns.

Elliott has been medically cleared to play and could be back in tomorrow against Nashville (Brodeur will start tonight against Colorado), leaving the Blues with a logjam in goal as Jake Allen also remains in the mix.
It’s possible the club isn’t convinced Elliott can stay healthy for the long-term, hence a move to keep Brodeur around.
As for Paajarvi, he was a bit player in St. Louis this year. The former first-round pick played in just 10 games and averaged under 10 minutes per night, but could be picked up by a team looking for forward depth.
Paajarvi, who’s still only 23 years old, is in the last of a two-year deal that carries a $1.2M cap hit.
