Veteran goaltender Tomas Vokoun has decided to retire.

The report comes from Zdenek Janda of iSport.cz:

Originally the ninth round selection of the Montreal Canadiens (226th overall) in 1994, Vokoun spent parts of 15 seasons with the Canadiens, Nashville Predators, Florida Panthers, Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins.

Vokoun appeared in 700 games posting a 300-288-78 record to go along with a career 2.55 G.A.A. and a .917 save percentage.

He holds Predators’ franchise records for goaltender appearances and saves.

The 38-year-old was limited to just 20 games with the Penguins last season as he battled with blood clot issues.

Vokoun won gold representing the Czech Republic at the 2005 and 2010 World Championships. He also won bronze at the 2006 Olympics and the 2004 World Cup.
