The asking price for Detroit to get Tyler Myers is reportedly...

From Ken Campbell of The Hockey News, it’s...

...prospect Dylan Larkin, a roster player along the lines of a Riley Sheahan or Tomas Jurco, and a first-round pick.

Debate among yourselves whether Myers is worth that. Assuming the report is accurate, GM Ken Holland has no doubt been debating it with his own people.

Personally? I’d like to hear what Mike Babcock thinks. The man who may or may not be back behind Detroit’s bench next season (he’s still undecided), has worked with some of the best defensemen to play the game. From the numerous years he coached Nicklas Lidstrom (a.k.a. the “Perfect Human”), to the pair of Olympics with Canada’s star-studded blue lines, is anyone more qualified to give an opinion on what makes a great d-man?

Because despite the tough times Myers has experienced since his Calder Trophy season in 2009-10, there are still some who believe he could be a dominant defenseman in the NHL. Remember, he’s still only 24. Zdeno Chara didn’t become the Zdeno Chara we know today until around that age, right after he was traded by the Islanders to the Senators.

At the very least, we know Babcock would like that Myers shoots right. It’s all the other stuff I’m curious about.
