The upper-body ailment that’s sidelined Lars Eller for the last two games will keep him out for another week or so, the Canadiens announced on Monday.
Eller, who at times has been Montreal’s best center this season, was hurt last week in a loss to Chicago and missed Saturday’s defeat in Dallas and Tuesday’s win over Vancouver as a result.
The 25-year-old Dane has seven goals and 11 points through 28 games this season, but is tied for the NHL lead in game-winning goals (four) and was one of the Canadiens’ top faceoff men, winning draws at a 58 percent clip.
Eller is currently being replaced in the lineup by rookie Sven Andrighetto, who has impressed by notching two points in his first two NHL contests. Last night, Andrighetto assisted on Tomas Plekanec’s game-winner against the Canucks.
