Enroth silences Kings as Sabres’ hot streak continues

Los Angeles Kings v Buffalo Sabres

Los Angeles Kings v Buffalo Sabres

Bill Wippert

You could be forgiven if you thought the Buffalo Sabres’ hot streak was officially over after they dropped back-to-back games against the Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers. After all, the 2014-15 Sabres aren’t highly regarded and don’t have a good track record. Goaltender Jhonas Enroth helped the Sabres to bounce right back though by stopping 34 shots in a 1-0 victory over Los Angeles.

Buffalo has now won seven of its last 10 games to improve to 10-16-2 this season. While the Sabres record still is far from impressive, they’ve climbed out of the NHL basement.

Enroth will get much of the credit for this victory, but he was quick to share it with his teammates.

“That was one of the easier ones, actually,” Enroth said, per the Sabres’ Twitter feed. “Team played well, minimized their chances. Felt sharp.”

Tyler Ennis was the other hero for the Sabres as his power-play goal early in the third period proved to be the difference.

Los Angeles has now lost two straight and has recorded just one goal over that stretch. Marian Gaborik logged 15:53 minutes in his return from an upper-body injury, but he couldn’t spark the Kings’ offense. Los Angeles will attempt to rebound on Thursday against Ottawa.
