Kris Letang, Chris Kunitz, Pascal Dupuis, Beau Bennett, Patric Hornqvist and now, Olli Maatta.
That’s the updated list (at the time of writing, anyway) of injured Penguins that’ll miss tonight’s tilt against the Rangers at MSG -- Maatta was the latest to go down, as he stayed behind in Pittsburgh for evaluation on an injury suffered Saturday against Ottawa.
With Maatta out, Robert Bortuzzo will draw back in for the first time since serving a two-game suspension following a high hit on New Jersey’s Jaromir Jagr.
As you can see, Pittsburgh’s really hurting at the moment (though it’s yet to really affect the standings, as the Pens remain tops in the East and have won five of seven.)
What’s more, the upcoming schedule is favorable. After Monday’s game, the Pens don’t play again until Friday at home against Calgary; while the Flames game is followed by a back-to-back (Saturday in Columbus), the Pens head back to Conosl after the Blue Jackets tilt for three straight home dates against the Lightning, Avs and Panthers.
