Tampa Bay forward Vladislav Namestnikov was assigned to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League the Lightning announced Wednesday.

Namestnikov, 22, appeared in 23 games for the Lightning this season scoring three goals and four assists while averaging 11:51 in ice time.

He had been a scratch from the Lightning lineup for three of four games before suiting up against Buffalo on Tuesday night.

As Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times points out the Lightning had an abundance of forwards and needed to scratch two each night. Wednesday’s transaction allows Jonathan Drouin to see more ice time while Namestnikov gets game action at the AHL level.

The native of Zhukovskiy, Russia appeared in 55 AHL games with Syracuse last season scoring 19 goals and 48 points.

Namestnikov was Tampa’s first-round selection (27th overall) in 2011.
