After ‘mistake at a bad time,’ Luke Schenn to be healthy scratch?

Saturday in Philadelphia, the Columbus Blue Jackets scored the following goal to cut the Flyers’ lead to 3-2:

While the Flyers went on to win, 4-2, defenseman Luke Schenn was benched for the way he defended the above goal. Furthermore, he may take a seat in the press box for tonight’s game against the Islanders.

From CSN Philly:

On Sunday, [coach Craig] Berube pulled the 24-year-old aside before practice for a one-on-one talk. Berube nor Schenn would discuss what was said.

After the discussion, Schenn worked the rest of practice with Carlo Colaiacovo, who was a healthy scratch Saturday. Both now figured to be healthy scratches Monday, though in Colaiacovo’s case, it’s a numbers game.

Berube wouldn’t say for certain if Schenn would be sitting Monday, but he did concede that the play on the Columbus goal “was a mistake at a bad time.”

Schenn, 25, has averaged just 16:21 of ice time this season. The Flyers dressed seven d-men against the Jackets, so pulling him from the lineup could allow them to dress another forward.
