After suffering back-to-back losses over the weekend, Stars coach Lindy Ruff pointed to tonight’s game against and said, “We have to make a stand.” In the end though, they suffered a 6-4 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

There were certainly silver linings for the Stars tonight. They got off to a strong start and Jamie Benn seemed to wake up after recording just two assists in his last nine games. He had two points tonight, including the game-opening goal.

The Stars continued to struggle defensively though and goaltender Kari Lehtonen wasn’t able to bail them out. Dallas’ 2-0 lead was washed away by a flurry of Carolina Hurricanes goals in the second period. After Jiri Tlusty made it 4-2 on a weak goal, Lehtonen was finally yanked.

Anders Lindback replaced him, but he’s struggled all season and this contest was no exception. He kicked out just seven of nine shots to render the Stars’ late-game comeback moot.

The Stars have now lost 10 of their last 12 games. They occupy the Central Division basement with a 6-9-4 record.
