New York Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck is celebrating his 27th birthday today and he gave himself quite the present. As Tampa Bay defenseman Anton Stralman carried the puck out of his own zone during a Lightning power play, Clutterbuck picked the puck away from him and fired a strong shot past former teammate Evgeni Nabokov to even tonight’s contest at 1-1.
You can watch that play below:
It was Clutterbuck’s second goal of the season and the 10th shorthanded marker of his career. His goal proved to be just the start for the Islanders as Mikhail Grabovski and Ryan Strome scored later in the second period to put New York ahead 3-1.
