Ducks clear Beauchemin (mumps) to rejoin team

The Anaheim Ducks appear to be getting back to full health -- on Monday, the club cleared defenseman Francois Beauchemin to rejoin the team after he came down with the mumps.

Beauchemin, 34, fell ill with the virus along with Corey Perry, who was recently activated off IR. The veteran blueliner hasn’t played since Nov. 7 -- missing the last four games -- but looks primed for a return to action on Tuesday when the Ducks take on the Flames in Calgary.

Anaheim has leaned on Beauchemin heavily this season, and his return figures to be a welcome one. He’s averaging nearly 23 minutes per game this season, sitting second on the team in blocked shots (28) and third among all d-men in hits.
