Coyotes goaltender Devan Dubnyk wasn’t able to earn his second straight shutout, but he did stand tall against his former team in Arizona’s 2-1 victory over Edmonton.

Dubnyk turned aside 33 of 34 shots tonight to improve to a 2.25 GAA and .925 save percentage in six games this season. Those numbers are in stark contrast to 2013-14 when he struggled mightily with the Edmonton Oilers until they finally traded him to the Nashville Predators on Jan. 15 in exchange for Matt Hendricks. After Dubnyk became a free agent this summer, he signed the Coyotes in the hopes of turning his career around.

His otherwise perfect night was spoiled by Taylor Hall with just 5:50 remaining in regulation time.

It was Hall’s first game in roughly two weeks due to a knee injury. Still, it wasn’t enough to save Edmonton, which is now 6-10-2 this season.

Brandon Gormley scored his first career goal to put the Coyotes on the board in the first period and Mikkel Boedker netted the game-winner.

Thanks in large part to Dubnyk’s efforts, Arizona has now won two straight games to improve to 8-9-1 this season.
