L.A. Kings coach Darryl Sutter offered more details on defenseman Alec Martinez following his team’s 3-2 overtime win Saturday.
Martinez, who underwent surgery on Friday, blocked a Jordie Benn shot in Thursday’s 2-0 loss to the Dallas Stars.
Darryl said that Martinez's surgery yesterday was to do some work on the tip of his pinky, near the nail.

“You know what? Everything went well,” Sutter said. “It was basically a finger – they had to do some suturing on his finger and clean up his nail a bit. When it heals, then he’ll be ready.”
Martinez, who has two goals and seven points while averaging over 20 minutes in ice time in 16 games, is one of only four Kings’ defensemen to appear in every game this season.
