It appears as if the Columbus Blue Jackets did indeed trade for Jordan Leopold in part because of injury issues: Fedor Tyutin is headed to injured reserve and is expected to miss four-to-six weeks, the Columbus Dispatch’s Shawn Mitchell reports.

Tyutin appeared to hurt his left knee (officially a “lower-body injury”) in a collision with Philadelphia Flyers forward Jakub Voracek.

(Video of the collision isn’t available at this time.)

The 31-year-old has two assists in 16 games so far in 2014-15. He’s seen a drop in ice time lately; after averaging more than 24 minutes per contest in both 2011-12 and 2012-13, he slipped to 21:25 last season and is averaging 20:18 per night so far this year.

Even with that reduced role in mind and a veteran like Leopold added to the mix, Columbus will likely miss Tyutin’s presence.

Mitchell reports that Matt Calvert will also go on IR retroactive to Nov. 7, clearing a sot for Artem Anisimov to make his return tonight.
