More tough luck for Viktor Stalberg in the health department.

On Monday, the Preds announced that Stalberg would miss the next 4-6 weeks with a knee injury suffered while playing in AHL Milwaukee on a conditioning stint. The incident occurred on Friday when the Admirals were playing Grand Rapids and Stalberg was hit knee-on-knee by Griffins defenseman Brennan Evans:

Evans was subsequently suspended four games for the hit.

The injury is the latest in Stalberg’s disappointing time as a Predator. After signing a four-year, $12 million deal in the summer of ’13, Stalberg missed the start of last season with a shoulder injury, then fell into Barry Trotz’s doghouse and spent time as a healthy scratch, finishing with just eight goals in 70 games.

This year, he suffered an upper-body injury during training camp and went on to appear in just five games, going scoreless with a minus-1 rating. In late October, the Preds sent him to Milwaukee for the aforementioned conditioning stint; he’s since been recalled to the parent club and placed on injured reserve.
