The New York Islanders swing through Southern California ended with a 2-1 shootout victory in Los Angeles Thursday night.

Brock Nelson scored the lone regulation marker for the Islanders while Dwight King had the goal for the Kings.

Chad Johnson made 28 saves in the win. Jonathan Quick stopped 25 shots in a losing cause.

Kyle Okposo and Frans Nielsen both scored in the shootout while Anze Kopitar and Jeff Carter were turned aside by Johnson.

With the win, the Islanders picked up four of a possible six points in California and have won back-to-back games after losing three straight.

Meanwhile the L.A. Kings have just one win in their last six.
