Busy discipline day: Anton Volchenkov suspended four games

After a remarkably (maybe coincidentally?) quiet October, the NHL’s Department of Player Safety has been awfully busy lately. The latest verdict is a four-game suspension for Nashville Predators defenseman Anton Volchenkov’s hit on Calgary Flames forward Michael Ferland.

The league labels it “an illegal hit to the head.”

Volchenkov, 35, has now been suspended three times in his NHL career.
