NHL schedules hearing with Nolan for boarding Helm

Nolan hit

Jordan Nolan only got a two-minute minor for slamming Darren Helm into the glass from behind during Friday’s game, but the league is considering punishing him further. The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that it has scheduled a hearing on Sunday with Nolan. They didn’t specify if it was an in-person or over the phone meeting.

As you might have suspected given that Helm was involved in the ensuing brawl, he remained in the game. Detroit went on to earn a 5-2 victory.

Nolan does have a history with the player safety department though. He was suspended for a game in March after punching an “unsuspecting” Jesse Joensuu with “significant force.” He was also fined in 2013 for cross-checking Henrik Sedin.
