The Columbus Blue Jackets’ three-game losing streak isn’t their biggest concern at this point. The talented group of players they have stuck in their sickbay is.
Defenseman James Wisniewski joined that group Tuesday as he broke his finger during Columbus’ 5-2 loss to Ottawa. That’s not even the Blue Jackets’ first finger injury this week as goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky is dealing with the same ailment. Wisniewski will be out for a week or two.
That’s in addition to the loss of forward Artem Anisimov, who might have a head injury after a high hit from Ottawa’s Eric Gryba last night:
“Whether I’ve done something or someone’s done something to the hockey gods, I have never seen anything like this,” Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards said, per the team’s website. “It seems like every time we play a game, somebody’s getting hurt, or at least that’s what it feels like right now.”
Columbus is also missing Nathan Horton, Boone Jenner, Matt Calvert, Brandon Dubinsky, and Nick Foligno.
