Kuemper, so hot right now
The numbers on Darcy Kuemper through five games are pretty outstanding: 4-1-0, .966 save percentage, 0.80 GAA and three (count ‘em!) shutouts. Tonight, he’ll look to bolster those stats against the New York Rangers, who head into this contest on the heels of Saturday’s loss to Montreal, in which they scored just once on 35 shots.
Speaking of the Rangers, Henrik Lundqvist will get his eighth start of the season tonight, tying him with New Jersey’s Cory Schneider for most among NHL netminders.
Habs turn to Tokarski
The Habs begins the first of a back-to-back Alberta series tonight in Edmonton -- they face Calgary tomorrow -- and they’ll lead things off with Dustin Tokarski, making his first start since Oct. 9.
Tokarski was stellar that night, stopping 29 of 30 shots in a shootout win over Washington. Tokarski was less impressive in his second outing, though, getting shelled for three goals on 18 shots in relief of Carey Price during a loss to Tampa Bay.
Tonight, he’ll take on Ben Scrivens, who has played very well for Edmonton lately and was rewarded with the NHL’s second star of the week on Monday.
