Philadelphia forward Blair Jones isn’t facing a disciplinary hearing for his charge on Chicago’s Ben Smith during Tuesday’s 4-0 loss, a NHL spokesman confirmed this morning.

Here’s the hit, which occurred early in the third period and earned Jones a charging minor:

Smith wasn’t injured on the play and ended up logging five minutes of ice time in the final frame, finishing with 12:25 TOI.

Jones doesn’t have any previous disciplinary issues with the league, but was involved in the Calgary-Vancouver line brawl last year that saw Bob Hartley fined and John Tortorella suspended for their roles in the fight(s).

It’s worth noting that since Philly plays tonight (against Pittsburgh, on NBCSN), it’s unlikely the league will later decide to schedule a hearing.
