MacKinnon feels like he’s ‘playing decent,’ despite lack of production

Even with just one assist in his first four games, Nathan MacKinnon isn’t sounding like a guy who’s worried about the possibility of a sophomore slump.

“Four games in, I have 70-some games left,” last season’s Calder Trophy recipient told the Denver Post. “I’ll be OK. Obviously, not the best start offensively . . . but I feel like I’m playing decent.”

The Avs (1-2-1) are in Ottawa to play the Senators (2-1-0) this evening. Colorado’s coming off a 3-2 overtime loss in Toronto on Tuesday.

Only four players have scored for the Avs in their first four games -- Jamie McGinn, Matt Duchene, Ryan O’Reilly, and Daniel Briere each have one tally.

Four games into last season, the Avs had already scored 13 times, with wins in all four games.

Colorado completes its four-game road trip Saturday in Montreal.
