The Flyers lost their first game of the season and now, they’ve lost one of their top defensemen.

Braydon Corburn has been dropped from the lineup for tonight’s game against the Devils, the team announced roughly 45 minutes prior to puck drop.

From the team website:

Coburn did not take to the ice this morning as the team held an optional skate at the Wells Fargo Center.

In the season opening game at Boston, Coburn took 27 shifts and appeared in 20:02 of ice time during the entire game, registering three shots on goal and a +1 rating.

With Coburn out, the Flyers are forced to give Nick Schultz his team debut -- the 13-year vet, who previously spent time with Minnesota, Edmonton and Columbus, didn’t play in the opener but will now skate on a pairing with Andrew MacDonald. Nicklas Grossmann will play with Mark Streit on one unit, while Michael Del Zotto and Luke Schenn comprise the other.
