Kings will unveil statue of Robitaille in 2014-15

Luc Robitaille

Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille will have a statue created in his honor and unveiled by the Los Angeles Kings during the 2014-15 campaign. That’s part of the larger Legends Night Series that the team has announced for the upcoming season.

Robitaille, whose statue will be made by Julie Rotblatt Amrany and Omri Amrany, is set to be honored on March 7 before the start of the Kings’ contest against the Pittsburgh Penguins. His statue will be in Star Plaza at Staples Center.

The retired forward scored 668 goals and 1,394 points in 1,431 games. He spent the bulk of his career with Los Angeles, but he also played for Pittsburgh, the New York Rangers, and Detroit. He currently serves as the Kings’ president of business operations.

Los Angeles will also honor Barry Melrose on Feb. 12 and Tony Granato on Feb. 24.
