The Philadelphia Flyers announced Tuesday that defenseman Kimmo Timonen has been diagnosed with multiple blood clots and his return to play is yet to be determined .
Timonen, 39, has blood clots in his lower right leg and in both lungs according to a team release.
As Sarah Baicker of CSN Philadelphia points out, it’s the second time Timonen is dealing with blood clots:Timonen missed four games in the ECF vs. Pens in 2008 with the blood clot, before returning for Game 5.

Timonen is the latest player to deal with blood clots. Goaltender Tomas Vokoun missed the entire 2013-14 season as a result of a blood clot in his foot. It was the second time in his career Vokoun had to deal with blood clot issues.
Timonen, who signed a one-year $2 million contract with the Flyers on June 13, is being treated in his native Finland.
A 15-year NHL veteran, Timonen has spent the past seven seasons with Philadelphia.
