The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed defenseman Tim Erixon to a one-year contract. The deal is reportedly of the one-way variety, for $600,000.

Erixon, 23, only played two games for the Jackets in 2013-14, spending most of his time in the AHL with the Springfield Falcons, for whom he scored five goals and had 33 assists in 40 games.

Erixon was the 23rd overall pick in the 2009 draft, but has yet to establish himself in the NHL. He’s also already been traded twice, first by Calgary, then by the New York Rangers.

With the departure of Nikita Nikitin to Edmonton, Erixon may have a better opportunity to crack the Jackets’ roster in 2014-15. However, he’s far from the only young blue-liner in the organization, which also boasts Ryan Murray, David Savard, Dalton Prout, and Cody Goloubef.
